I needed a gas gauge. Annie needed food. Neighbor Larry needed some propane plumbing fittings. So for a nice scoot I went north to Yreka where there is one of Uncle Wally’s mansions.
Very nice ride, cooling in the 90+ heat. Annie appreciated the dog food, though she is sick from the heat. Larry used the parts he ‘ordered; to hook up a propane in his old, old van. Unfortunately he hooked the tank high side (120+ lbs pressure in this heat) to the gas low side (5 lbs pressure). This did not work so good. But the good news is that his van did not explode, but it blew the burner control valves of his stove out. I won’t speculate what his effort to use parts fished from discarded items will cost him now! Much more than he has. Larry is a nice but rather penniless guy. He brought a frozen dinner over for me to nuke for him.
It is still hot, with 95+ highs. But the web still says there will be dramatic improvements starting tomorrow.
A couple of pics of the ‘flotilla’ on the lake, taken with the camera hand-held at a 1000 feet or so from the lake, 250 mm equivalent.
