You can make a difference

“My girls” – Your $22/month can do wonders!

The entire families of these children live on a few bucks a month, and have never heard of Starbucks. But they would be pleased with TwentyTwoBucks

Since 1936, Children International has worked tirelessly to ease the burdens poverty places upon poor children.

Today, their most urgent effort is to fight poverty by connecting sponsors with children around the world.

But there are thousands of very poor children who are waiting for someone to give them a hand up. Someone like you. No Starbucks, just TwentyTwoBucks.

Ok, so it is a blatant ad. but an honorable one. Yes, that is it, the orange one over there on the right that says Sponsor A Child Now. For as little as $22 per month you can sponsor a child. Pick the country. Pick the child. Or you can make a one time contribution. You can make a difference.

$22 bucks a month. That is a couple of Starbucks. TwentyTwoBucks trumps Starbucks. Brew you own cuppa.

At least click on the link. Read about the organization. View the three children that I sponsor.

Yes, you can designate children in the US if you want to be patriotic. But my thoughts are that Obama is going to handle that out of my taxes and bailouts.

You can make a difference. If you think it is a worthy cause, tell others. But if you are not so inclined, well, that is perfectly ok too.

P.S. I get nothing from this effort other than the satisfaction that perhaps I helped to make a little difference.

Medical flash! Coffee is good

{{Potd/2006-08-30 (en)}}

Another cuz to be unnamed, suggested that her leg pains felt better after a cuppa java.

That gave me pause. That caused me to ponder. That led to an experiment.

As both of my faithful readers know, I have sciatica stemming from a bad disc somewhere L4 or somewhere in the L? region. It has been acting up rather badly for a few weeks. I also remembered that my intake had been moderated during that time due to the inconvenience and discomfort of a heavy load on my kidneys and bladder.

Coincidence? For the last few days I embarked on an experiment. In addition to or in place of one or two morning cups of coffee, I have been bolstering my caffeine intake by a few doses of tablets, retaining a low coffee intake.

Yo! Sciatica reduced! So I surmise that the caffeine, or it’s combination with the usual heavy diose of naprosyn, has improved my comfort.

So thanks, unnamed cuz, for pointing out the obvious that I have missed for a lifetime of coffee drinking!

Tapesh TV

News flash!

The Iranian Tapesh TV has just been accused by US TV stations of presented a one sided picture of the situation in Iran, in support of Ahmadinejad, declaring the practice as dangerous, reprehensible.

Did anyone in the US notice the biased Obama love-fest that NBC/MSNBC calls news? Or perhaps the Obama-thon that ABC rolled onto the public while denying counter-points, even in the form of paid commercials?

Exactly why would the US TV stations criticize Iranian Tapesh TV and embrace the same behavior at home without a whimper?

And why would the non-brain dead in the US not find them as dangerous, reprehensible?

Wake up, America!

From slaps to fists

Oh, I just remember the originally intended topic! But if you are bored, just skip it. I am just treading water until the java kicks in. I spiked it with caffein tablets so that I can drink less and not interrupt this surge of productivity with a trip to the loo that would cause me to forget…

I have a cousin. Actually I have several of many degrees, but one comes to mind. He will remain unnamed but will readily recognize himself. He has a printer that was getting under his skin, something to do with the cross-ways paper feed, ink cartridges for it costing $100 when the printer cost $30, or some such. Probably the paper feed.

So out of frustration he hit it with gusto on top with his fist in preparation for the trip to the garbage can. Eureks! It started working.

Now teleport from AL to AZ.

As readers know, the inverter in Barth malfunctioned. Replacements cost $1200. When the local RV shop volunteered to have their crack electrical repair guy take a shot at it with no charge, I exclaimed something like, “Ok”.

He got it working! When I asked him how he accomplished that, he stated that he gave it a whack on the top with his fist.

Now that pretty much tells me what was wrong with it. But it gives me no idea how long it will be before I will be going back to a RV shop and paying a minimum charge of one or two hours at $125/hr. to get another fist whack.

Slaping the newborn on the bottom

Slapping newborns on the bottom. As traditional a symbolic act as there is. Unfortunately there is no special slap for obnoxious kids and young so-called adults to retract that life-giving slap. Of course, I do not remember being that obnoxious. I do not remember anything some days, and this is one of them.

But I do wish I could retract the life-triggering slap from those talking heads that have taken about 15 minutes of actual news content about Jackson and stretched it to fill three complete 24/7 days of air time. Is it because he was talented, weird or bleached black?

And in the meantime the Republicrats in Washington perform unnoticed, condemning the US to the inevitable slide into the squalor that is guaranteed by the socio-fascist system they embrace.

One more note perhaps related to the above: Obama is not black, but mixed race. He is approximately 50% white, 40% Arabic and 10% black. But he definitely not Muslim. We can tell that by the way he bubbles over with favorable poetry to the Muslim countries, and snubs Israel with terse prose.

So would all thhe black and white folks that voted for Hussien Obama solely because he was “black” please immediately retract their vote?

I did receive a sign. If one does a spell check on Obama on Blogger, it does not exist. That would be encouraging.

Oh, I just remember the originally intended topic!
