A medical day

No project progress today. Just two trips to the city.

One for a Dr. appointment for me. I have back pain, neck pain, possibly arthritis or drug side effects. I now have a pain killer since my normal array of across the counter stuff has stopped working. We’ll see if it works.

One for a Dr. appointment for Annie the Dog. Annie has deafness, cataracts, arthritis, possible senility, and incontinence. A drug was provided for her incontinence. We’ll see if it works.

Annie punctuated her problem at the Dr. office by peeing on their carpet in the waiting room. Normally, she would never do that.

I did not pee on my Dr. office carpet. I waited until I got to the parking lot.

Practice run

Barth completed a practice run today after being mostly cleaned for travel. We took a trip, Annie the Dog, Barth and I, to town to fill fuel and propane tanks. Propane price had dropped dramatically to $2.69. Diesel still trying to squeeze the lifeline out of the trucking industry at $3.33.

The only two things noted during the short trip were a leak from the shower drain trap underneath the floor, in the wheel well. Freeze damage? If it is a mild leak, I may be able to live with it. I do not bother to winterize, so that could be te explanation. The leak may be simple, which is not the same as inexpensive.

And some lack of control over the location of the dash heater/air conditioner output. The AC problem, I dunno. After all, it is fall/winter, so an open window may postpone any action there.

Obsessions

Nope, not a new brand of perfume. Nothing available at Victoria’s Secrets, that I am aware of.

Just simple obsessions, or is it addictions. Probably the latter.

I usta (if that isn’t in the dictionary, it should be) read books, watch movies, DVDs and TV. I seem to have lost interest.

I still watch junk (sitcoms, etc) on TV. I still spend too much time on the computer, as I am now. I do not play useless, time wasting video games, but much of my computer time is just as senseless (witness this post!).

So my intent is to not to re-trigger the movie obsession.

But I would like to reinvigorate my interest in reading.

Now I have to repulse myself with the junk TV programs.

The computer? Some of it is necessary, though necessary though unproductive as in the stock markets – i.e. my current job at home. But much of it is senseless diversionary browsing, emailing, etc.

Perhaps I should visit Victoria’s Secrets. Perhaps their tossing of an old fart out of their store would be a life changing event, making me forget the TV.

Early voting, fait accompli

As an evasive maneuver to avoid actual work around the place, I decided to vote early yesterday. So I called to be sure I could do so, then drove to Bisbee the county seat to vote. Always a nice drive. At the county offices I found two rickety manual booths both available. Since Annie the Dog stayed home, I had a discussion with myself about the best one to use. I found that I indeed was registered. So I voted. Fait accompli.

At Bisbee I stumbled upon Dot’s Diner. Not a simulated diner, a real diner. Seats eight. Stands none. Great and real shakes. Great and real burgers. Unfortunately Dot is selling out and moving to a touristy ‘downtown’ location in a month or so. As usual, my discovery was a dollar short and a day late.

That was well and good. But I extended the drive to $25 (all distances are measured in $ these days). Drove through Bisbee, Tombstone, Mustang Corners, Huachuca City, Sierra Vista and back home. Spent $4.50 on a Barth repair part. Spent $170 on groceries, mostly meat products. Perishables. Not suitable for catastrophic event food storage, so I probably should eat them as quickly as possible.

Finally, on the way home at Hereford, I looked for Hereford. I have been looking for 10 years. I still could not find it.

Where in the world is Hereford, AZ? I am becoming convinced that this is in a Twilight Zone, or perhaps a misplaced Bermuda Trianglett. Every time I enter the area I become lethargic and non-productive.

Today’s progress

Relative to the Barth, today wasn’t as active as one might have planned.

  • The water tank was filled.
  • The chassis (engine) batteries were serviced. House batteries are non-serviceable.
  • A couple of electrical covers/panels which were left dangling last fall were reinstalled.
  • Part of the clothing drawers were emptied and cleaned – yikes, meese evidence!
  • The operation of the newly installed propane leak detector was reverified.
  • The dash radio was reinstalled. It had been removed in anticipation of switching to a new one, but that project has been delayed. The radio is used for all audio; MPG, CD, TV, XM, AM/FM. In order to avoid difficult wiring work, miniature FM transmitters are being used to send sound to the radio in FM mode.

I must divert more time to the moho for about a week. I have RV friends visiting about the first week in Nov. and I hope to have Barth and the house in order so that I will be ready to take a trip myself shortly thereafter.
