Finally, just like me

My ears hurt from a week of Demo speeches at their conventions. I was barraged by stories of grandparents, parents, hard times and low income. They, having made ‘it’ by various means, now living in one or more million dollar houses, flying in private jets without spending their own money, are constantly trying to convince me that they are not of the elite.

Bull crap.

I do not regret their good fortune, though it would have been great if Barry and Mich had been honest enough to acknowledged that they owe a lot to affirmative action in getting into Harvard/Yale. Perhaps they will ring me up to tell me tonight. I do dislike their implication that they are just like me!

Finally.

A candidate that is very close to just like me. Except for the recent couple of years, Ms. Paline has been a basic blue collar hockey Mom, with a blue collar husband. In fact both could have been in the show Deadliest Catch.

This may, or not, have been a good call by McCain. But one thing for sure. The race just became more interesting and fun.

Is Hillary fuming?

A gun totin’, NRA member, union member, Demo and Indy appointing, basketball playing, hockey Mom, married to a blue-collar husband, from AK. Who would have thunk it?

Palin for VP! Is this brilliant choice? Or is this a political stunt that will fail? We will know more after the Repub convention.

Until then…

Geraldine Ferraro was interviewed on TV. She said that she was overcome with emotion and had to pull off the road when she heard Palin’s speech today. Because. Because that was the first time that anyone had publicly congratulated her for being the first VP candidate! Sorry, Ms. Ferraro, and add a congratulations from me.

Now, to Hillary. She must be fit to be tied, don’t you know. Serving as First Lady in Residence, succeeding in collecting the Senator medal from NY State. Fighting for the Demo’s Presidential nomination. Being forced to concede without even the VP slot.

And now she has to watch as this unknown, this harlot, this undeserving hussy might actually have a shot at the honor of becoming the first female VP.

Yes, Hillary must be hard to live with these days. But I suspect she always was. Besides, Bill deserves it.

Is Hillary’s speech over yet? Yikes, I can take the cotton out of my ears now!

Palin! – absolutely fascinating

McCain’s choice of Sarah Palin for VP is fascinating, and that is an understatement!

Let’s list a few facts gleaned from first impression:

Outdoors-women, hunter, fisher. And indoor hunter – AK constituents refer to her as a fighter, cleaning out the AK government corruption. She has an 80+% approval rating in AK.

Mom of 5, oldest serving in Iraq. Finally, a politician with a vested interest in the service men and women.

Mom of 5, youngest a newborn with Downs Syndrome. She is a staunch pro-life advocate, refusing to abort on the news that her unborn had Downs.

Working class ‘hockey mom’, known as a house-cleaner of corruption as a Mayor and Governor of Alaska. Also a baker of pies.

Working class husband, Alaska commercial fisherman andAK North Slope oil field operator. Union member, as Sarah has also been.

Minimal experience at 44 years, but would you rather have a Mayor and Governor with low experience or a community organizer with little experience. Do not forget that Obama has spent 2 of his 4 years as Senator running for President.

Palin is a fascinating and high risk decision of McCain. Time will tell if she is strong enough, likeable enough. She is easy on the eyes, so that will buy her a day or two to get oriented. If Palin can muster enthusiasm from constituents, she should also be able to capitalize by attracting many of Hillary’s 18 million malcontents.

Pitting Yale against hockey mom is going to be absolutely fascinating if Palin can hold her own.

I tried to get on her AK state web site, but it is overwhelmed and inaccessible.

Obama speech – the content

On the surface, which is where such great oratory style shines, the speech was a home run. But there is one problem – the content.

I was calculating the cost of all of Obama’s social programs as he spoke. At least until the accumulator in my calculator overflowed. So I do not know the total cost of those programs, except to say that it far exceeds tax income.

How is Obama going to pay for those give-aways while reducing taxes on 95% of the people? He mentioned two.

1) He is going to eliminate pork barrel spending and inefficient programs. He is clueless that the person he thinks is on his side (Pulosi) will blindside him by attaching these items to major bills. Can you say “Obama has no line item veto”? Obama thinks his charisma will allow him to control Congress. Forget the Repubs, he won’t even be able to control the Demos.

2) He is going to increase taxes on the most rich 5%. Now, Warren Buffet has stated that he is so rich that he thinks he pays too little in taxes, and should pay more. Interestingly he has not sent any unsolicited donations. It is a good thing that he has deep pockets.

Obama, you are clueless, and will the looser in this campaign! If not, then We the People will be the looser.

Obama speech – the delivery

Obama is unquestionably a great orator. The delivery of his acceptance speech was flawless. Perfect annunciation. Perfect rhythm. Perfect modulation with well timed crescendos. That man can speak! He makes a speech effortless to listen to.

His style can inspire an admiring audience into a frenzy, over and over. In fact, the convention delegates did just that, but they were predispositioned to frenze to Kermit the frog if he were their selected candidate. On the TV I could not tell if the frenze extended through the non-delegates seated into the clouds of the regular stadium seats.

I can’t help but feel that I have seen similar reactions to similar speaking styles. In a venue that shaped Obama’s early life, while he was using drugs by his own self admission. I think it was on TV.

Oh, I remember. His style is similar to that of the good Rev. Wright. The Rev Wright that spews racism and hatred in an oratory manner that whips his congregation into a frenzy.

Obama had an excellent teacher. He obviously was a good student.
